So in my last post I was telling you about my beach trip to Milwaukee and I ended it by going back to the hotel. But that was not the end of my trip. After we rested a little bit we went out for the biggest adventure of my life so far: a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game.

Our game wasn’t until early evening but we got to American Family Field as soon as the doors opened so that we could get in line for the jersey giveaway that the girl and her friend were really excited about. We had to be one of the first 25,000 ticket holders through the door to get one. The stadium holds 41,900, so there were no guarantees.

The parking lot was huge so we had to walk a long way, even crossing a bridge over the highway, to get to the stadium. But what was really weird is that people were camped out by their cars with tents and grills and bag toss games all over the place. The girl’s friend explained they were tailgating.

We had to wait in a long line to get inside the stadium, but once we got in the girl and her friend got their jerseys and then we ran into Bernie Brewer.
For some reason Bernie didn’t really want to pose for a picture with me, and then once he finally did, he did something I did not like.
He threw me back to the girl!
Fortunately she caught me, but I was like, I am not a baseball!

I didn’t have time to dwell on that because it was time to find our way up to the fourth level where our seats were. Once we got up there and found our seats, the girl looked sort of terrified. Our seats were in the very top row, in a section called the nosebleeds.

I actually enjoyed the view from the top. And I don’t actually have a nose, so nothing to worry about there.
It was huge. Way more huge than the minor league ball park where we were last week.

I tried out my seat.

The girl and I posed for a photo.

Then we went off to find some food since we had a couple hours before the first pitch. I tried a beer but it wasn’t my favorite, so I let the girl drink most of it for me. The girl’s friend shared his hot dog, and I ate some popcorn.

Because we had so much time, we ended up making friends with these guys who had season tickets to the Brewers and knew all about baseball. They were super nice and ended up asking us to sit with them instead of going back to the nosebleeds, so we did!
That made the game even more fun. They shared their snacks with us and explained things, like why the Brewers fans booed when Manny Machado went up to bat for the San Diego Padres. The Brewers fans have been booing him since 2018 because he collided with a Brewers first baseman during a championship game. That’s a long grudge!

The game started out slow but then it got very dramatic. The Padres scored a run in the 4th inning and were leading until the Brewers tied them with a run in the 7th. In the 8th inning, the Brewers scored two runs, so they were in the lead. It looked like the game was a done deal and people started to leave.
But in the top of the 9th, the Padres stole the lead with a two-run double. Everyone was on the edge of their seats.
All the Brewers need is a walk-off home run, the girl’s friend said.
That sounded like a long shot, but then it happened! The crowd went crazy, fireworks were shot into the dark sky above the stadium, and we were so excited that the Brewers won!

My first Major League Baseball game was a great experience. And we even remembered to bring a whole Milwaukee Pretzel Company pretzel back to the car for Sketch, who munched on it while we told him about the game on the way home.
