Yesterday the girl said it was time to expand my wardrobe, so we pretended her home office was an atelier and got out the fabrics and ribbons and extras that we purchased at Hobby Lobby. I chose the green fleece, and she got to work cutting and pinning and stitching.

It started as a vest, then it became a jacket, then it got a satin front and zipper, and finally she added satin cuffs on the sleeves. Each time it evolved I tried it on to check the fit.

Once it was done, we thought it was great, and I spent the afternoon catwalking around like a model and posing in front of the mirror. But this morning her friend picked us up and said I needed some bling. So we got out the t-rex pin and added that to the satin placket. Perfect!

We decided to go on a walking adventure, but the girl and I were starving for breakfast, so we went to another Donutland, this time in Iowa City. We were all excited to see that they had a special donut just for me! It was the best donut I’ve tasted so far because it was so soft and sweet. I spent the day dreaming of another.

Then it was time for our walking adventure. Our first stop was the Iowa City Power Dam, which we walked right over on a bridge. The water was smooth as it came to the dam and fell over the falls, and then it was frothy and swirly and fun to watch on the other side.

We did a lot of exploring of the dog parks and posh neighborhoods on the other side of the river. At first we were chilly, but as the morning progressed the sun warmed us up.

What was really surprising about our walk is that it smelled amazing. There were serviceberry bushes everywhere that made us feel like we were surrounded by flowers. We even saw a pair of deer who let us get pretty close until they crept off into the bushes.

Everyday since the girl brought me home I’ve felt so welcome in her world, and every day is a new adventure. I had no idea life could be like this.
